Dr. Robert Jaekel is a founding partner of Witthoff Jaekel Steinecke. He specializes in grant proceedings before the German and European Patent Offices, litigation proceedings before German courts and has broad experience in opposition and appeal proceedings.

In addition to inventions from the classic (wet) biosciences and related fields of medicine, agricultural technology and food research, his technical affinity also enables him to handle inventions from more technical fields such as medical technology and devices, irrigation technology and alternative energies. Furthermore, he is particularly involved in the support of start-up companies and has created the relevant program of our law firm to enable young companies to secure their know-how at a more affordable price.

He studied biology at the University of Cologne and wrote his diploma thesis at Artemis-Pharmaceuticals GmbH, Cologne (now TaconicArtemis GmbH) and in the Department of Immunology at the Institute of Genetics at the University of Cologne. Afterwards he received his doctorate in genetics at the Institute of Genetics of the University of Cologne. In addition to his profound knowledge in developmental and tumor genetics, molecular and cell biology, he has experience in pharmacology, biochemistry and immunology.

1994 - 1999

Studies of Biology at the University of Cologne, with a major in Genetics, Biochemistry and Pharmacology-Toxicology. Diploma thesis focusing on molecular biology and cell culture techniques at Artemis-Pharmaceuticals GmbH Köln (now TaconicArtemis GmbH) and at the Department of Immunology at the Institute of Genetics of the University of Cologne on the subject "Comparative investigation of different systems for the regulation of recombinase Cre" under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Klaus Rajewsky
